FAQ's

Will the High Holy Days be Fully virtual this year?
Yes. All of Temple Emanu-El’s High Holy Days services will be held virtually this year and are available to people all around the world. Participants can still expect to experience the powerful prayers within the magnificent setting of our sanctuary.

Why did Temple Emanu-El decide to have virtual High Holy Days this year?
All of our decisions relating to our Covid-response are led by the primacy of pikuach nefesh, or saving a life. The safety of our congregants, staff, and the health of the general public comes first. We know that the act of singing in an enclosed space has been proven to pose an increased risk, even when we are seated at a social distance. This, together with the act of bringing together our multigenerational community of children, youth, adults and seniors, creates more risk for spreading the virus.

I am a member. When will I receive my tickets?
This year, all our High Holy Days programming, including all worship, will be happening virtually. Because there will be no physical tickets, members should check their inboxes for links from Temple Emanu-El.

What will be different this year?
We will gather online rather than in our main sanctuary and best of all, you won’t need to worry about parking.

What will be the same this year?
Services will be an inspirational blend of prayer, music and tales.
Most importantly, we will journey together in joy, wonder, and awe out of the year of 5780 and into the beautiful year of 5781.

Will there be children’s services?
Yes!  A Rosh Hoshana and Yom Kippur pre-recorded service will be available for the whole family to enjoy together from the comfort of your living room couch.

How do I get the prayer book so that I can participate in worship services?
See here.
